Kia ora, I would like to welcome you back to the Southern Health School for 2020. I hope you have all enjoyed a summer break and we look forward working with your child this year. Coronavirus news:
You will be aware of the current news surrounding the Coronavirus outbreak in China. We are closely monitoring information provided by the Ministry of Health and following their advice. Staff have been reminded to be diligent with regard to hand sanitising, sneezing and being on the lookout for symptoms.
We are mindful that students at the Southern Health School are unwell and some have low levels of immunity. In order to reduce the risk of anyone contracting Coronavirus we ask that you let your teacher know before you meet them if:
• you have been in China recently
• or had contact with anyone who has been to China
• especially if your child shows any symptoms such as fever, coughing and difficulty breathing.
The Ministry of Health currently advises that there are no cases of the virus in New Zealand and that the risk of an outbreak in New Zealand is low.
We are following the Ministry of Health’s advice and the school will be open as per the dates on the school website.
